How to practice Yoga at home

yogaMany of us do not practice yoga at home because we do not know what pose to start with and how to create sequences for the whole session. The most challenge lies in maintaining a home practice every day because it requires strong desire and commitment. There are lots of obstacles like illness, boredom, lack of time etc.


If you have a strong commitment to practice regularly, there are others concern too for different level of yogi. For most of the beginner, it is difficult to remember what poses to practice. For more experienced yogi, it is difficult to decide what pose to choose during the session.


If you are targeting on health and wholeness, sequencing is not an issue. Practice different poses on different days for different needs.  Besides, where you practice yoga is also an important issue. You have to find a comfortable space without any obstacles so to make you feel clam and relax. Make sure that it is a quite place with good ventilation.

 

What you need for your practice today?

You need to know what you want to gain on everyday’s practice. If you are tired and need to restore your energy, you may choose to start with a resting pose and come with more stretching pose. If you are full of energy, you may try more dynamic asanas by challenging each sections of your body.  You may choose to enhance your core, with more advance pose to strength your core. Your everyday practice should be interesting and satisfying so that you will wait for your practice again tomorrow. Don’t ever force yourself to practice because it will not create value for you internally and externally.

 

Practice yoga early morning

It is advisable to practice yoga early morning. Exercise early morning will activate your metabolism, keeping it elevated for hours, thus you will burn more calories all day long. Besides, you will get amazing start of the day, with improvement in your energy level and alertness throughout the day.

Are you ready for your Yoga class?

If you have not start on yoga, wait no more, start to manage your health now. Yoga is a great exercise to get you healthy, and you must give yourself a try. You will not lose anything by joining one of the yoga classes nearby your neighborhood. Just go buy your own Yoga Mat, get your own towels and blanket, wear any clothes that you feel comfortable with like tank tops, tights or short. You will need to perform bending, twisting, upside down during your yoga sessions, so wear something that you feel comfortable with.

 

Morning and evening time is the best for yoga. Remember not to have food 3 hours before your class, it is very important to have an empty stomach because you will need to do forward and reverse bending poses, pressure will be added to your abdominal organs which may push the food upwards resulting in great discomfort. Besides, all your blood circulation will diverted to your digestive processes. So eat and drink moderately, and also avoid fried, meat and heavy food.

 

Most typical yoga class lasts for 75 minutes. A 15-20 minute period of breathing, chanting, and warming up (it varies by type of yoga and instructor), followed by the asanas and then 15-20 minutes of relaxation (savasana) at the end. You will start to love it after you find the benefits of being a yogi.
